Wouldn’t gate issues be a bigger problem in a sprint? While it’s always a good idea being wary taking short prices on horses doing new things, I’m not sure I agree with your logic. A two turn race where there is speed is far more likely to be spread out than a sprint. Now I didn’t write it but I’m always concerned when jockeys like Saez are going to overthink it, they don’t get many chances with elite type horses. However nothing I have seen from DM indicates to me that he is just a closing sprinter. To me the danger for him is Echo Again getting a loose lead.
Good call on the winner. Have to say I didn’t see the two favs getting in a protracted speed duel coming but when everyone is stretching out from sprints to two turn races, this is what you get. I was already dead because I didn’t use the Phil Bauer horse in the prior race lol
